American in Chinese Prison for 8 months. Almost got the death sentence for false accusations of passing a marijuana joint. Matthew Fellows “aka Thorr” a 23-year-old from Gambrills, Maryland was an exchange student to China, that was falsely accused of smoking a joint, and passing it to someone else. Chinas shitty laws considered smoking weed as a drug trafficking crime. That is right, just simply passing a joint around is considered drug trafficking, which is a major criminal offense that is punishable by death. They held him in a Chinese prison camp in Nanjing where he spent 8 months of his life.
Luckily his parents got involved and hire some kick-ass lawyers that were able to prove Matthews innocence. This is just wrong in the eyes if the cannabis community. How is it that a plant like marijuana can be punishable by death? This just doesn’t make any sense. Now that it is legal in many states in the United States, Canada, and soon Mexico it doesn’t make sense why they would kill a person for weed. It goes to show that not every country sees the overall scientific facts about the plant, and how it is not a danger to society.
Here is a video of his family receiving at the Baltimore-Washington International Airport at 5.35am on Tuesday.
